Japanese anime feature “Chainsaw Man The Movie: Reze Arc” led the Korean box office for a second consecutive weekend, earning $1.8 million from 246,138 admissions across 911 screens for a 31.9% market share.

According to KOBIS, the tracking service operated by the Korean Film Council, the film has now grossed $16.6 million since opening Sept. 24. The film adapts the “Reze” arc of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s hit manga. Directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara with a screenplay by Hiroshi Seko, the movie follows Denji as his encounter with café worker Reze leads to a clash between intimate connection and bloody chaos. Voice cast includes Reina Ueda, Fairouz Ai, Tomori Kusunoki, and Maaya Uchida. Sony/Crunchyroll are handling distribution in the market.

More from Variety

South Korean film “Boss” remained in second place with $806,745, lifting its total to $15.3 million after 17 days in theaters. Directed by Ra Hee-chan, the action-comedy stars Jo Woo-jin as Soon-tae, Jung Kyung-ho as Kang-pyo, Park Ji-hwan as Pan-ho and Lee Kyu-hyung as Tae-gyu. The film, which debuted at the Busan International Film Festival, centers on gang underlings who, oddly, compete to avoid becoming the boss while pursuing personal ambitions.

New entry “Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie” opened at No. 3 with $644,696 (89,684 admissions) from 742 screens. Based on Gege Akutami’s manga, the film follows Gojo Satoru and Geto Suguru, two sorcerers tasked with protecting Amanai Riko, a student chosen as the Star Plasma Vessel, while being pursued by curse users and a religious cult.

Park Chan-wook’s “No Other Choice” ranked fourth with $556,055 for a running total of $19.1 million. Lee Byung-hun plays Man-su, a laid-off paper manufacturing specialist who resorts to serial murder to eliminate his competitors for a single job opening, only to discover the position exists to supervise AI testing.

“One Battle After Another” placed fifth with $388,865 (cume $3.3 million).

Japanese hit “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle” earned $307,164, pushing its local total to $41.5 million. New arrival “Weapons” opened in seventh with $252,186.

Animation “Bread Barbershop: The Bakerytown Baddies” added $97,270 (cume $1.6 million), and “Your Letter,” another animation title, followed with $106,561 (cume $1.3 million). Rounding out the top 10, AI powered film “Run to the West” opened with $56,302 from 13,004 admissions on 245 screens.

The top 10 films collectively grossed $5.06 million over the Oct. 17–19 weekend, down from $7.9 million the previous frame, continuing the progressive decline of the Korean box office post the Chuseok holiday.
