  • The Food Network is canceling The Kitchen after nearly 10 years and 40 seasons.

  • Fans sounded off on X: “I’m so sad,” one wrote. “Well, this sucks!”

  • The Kitchen hosts Biegel and Mauro shared their own sentiments on social media while Bobby Flay chimed in, “Well done everyone.. an iconic run.”

Take a deep breath, fellow Food Network fans: after nearly 10 years and 40 seasons, The Kitchen is ending. The beloved series—hosted by Sunny Anderson, Katie Lee Biegel, Jeff Mauro, Geoffrey Zakarian, and recurring guest host Alex Guarnaschelli—will air its final episode in December.

Variety announced the cancellation on October 20 with one silver lining: fans will get a final season. According to a source close to production, Food Network execs made the call while “evaluating resources and its priorities into the new year’s lineup of programming.” Warner Bros. Discovery is reportedly moving forward with plans to split up the linear channels portion of the business from the streaming platform and studio.

Fans almost immediately sounded off on X. “I am so sad! The Kitchen is my favorite Food Network show,” one user tweeted. “I know I can see all of the chefs on other shows, but I like them here, together. It’s such an enjoyable watch and a getaway from the countless competition shows.”

Another added, “Well, this sucks! Huge fan of this show,” with someone else saying, “One of the few shows that is actually about recipes and cooking. So help me if they replace it with another competition show…. Enough already.”

So… what can viewers expect? The long-running series—which drew iconic guests like Martha Stewart and Ree Drummond across more than 500 episodes—will air its final episode in December.

“For over a decade, Sunny, Katie, Jeff, Geoffrey, and more recently Alex have engaged audiences with their individual and distinct food sensibilities and sense of humor that together make ‘The Kitchen’ a delicious way to spend an hour,” Warner Bros. Discovery head of food content Betsy Ayala said in a statement. “Everyone knows all good parties end up in ‘The Kitchen,’ where the conversation, laughs, and food flow; the best parties probably end a little bit earlier than some guests would like, but we’ve got twelve years of memories and wanted to celebrate this team’s hard work during one final holiday season.”

Fans weren’t the only ones bummed over the cancellation, as the hosts also shared their own sentiments across social media. Co-host Katie Lee Biegel called it “the end of an era” on Instagram: “Thank you so much to all of our fans. The Kitchen was the greatest professional honor of my life, and I will be forever grateful.”

Bobby Flay chimed in on Food Network’s post: “Thank you to The Kitchen and its fabulous chefs and hosts for holding it down in daytime on Food Network for the last decade. Well done everyone… an iconic run.”

Jeff Mauro echoed the love: “I got to spend a dozen years with my best friends—cooking, laughing, and eating life-changing bites from some of the world’s greatest chefs and cooks. I got to play Twister with Daniel Radcliffe, sing and strum with Trisha Yearwood, and spit bars with Vanilla Ice and Rev Run.” He added, “I love you all and will cherish every moment we created together.”

Group cry, anyone?
