Machine Gun Kelly Launches Tickets To My Downfall Vault Series With “no cell phones in rehab”

Machine Gun Kelly is celebrating the five-year anniversary of his game-changing 2020 album Tickets To My Downfall with a new vault release, “no cell phones in rehab.” The track dropped this morning alongside a lo-fi music video and marks the first in a weeklong rollout of unreleased songs from the Downfall era, each arriving daily at 9:25 a.m. PST.

The track headlines the upcoming anniversary edition Tickets To My Downfall (All Access), executive produced once again by Travis Barker, who helped steer MGK’s pivot from rap to pop-punk half a decade ago.

When Tickets To My Downfall first arrived in 2020, it didn’t just reinvent MGK’s sound—it redefined the mainstream presence of pop-punk. The album became his first No. 1 on the Billboard 200, landed 18 songs on the Hot Rock Songs chart, and produced Platinum-certified hits like “bloody valentine” and “my ex’s best friend.”

Now, with no cell phones in rehab, MGK seems to revisit that chaotic, cathartic energy. The song blends raw confessional lyrics (“Today I went online, apparently a lot of people don’t like me”) with jagged guitar hooks and Barker’s unmistakable percussive punch. It’s loud, reckless, and self-aware—everything fans loved about Downfall.

The accompanying video embraces a stripped-back aesthetic that fans have already dubbed “YouTube 2007 energy.” Shot selfie-style at a kitchen table, it’s refreshingly unpolished and full of personality. One YouTube commenter summed it up perfectly:

“Something about Kells filming selfie mode at a kitchen table lip syncing to his track with his whole soul really screams YouTube 2007 and I love ittttt.”

Another fan added:

“mgk just vibing to his music in his own music video. GOAT.”

The response online has been overwhelmingly nostalgic, with many celebrating MGK’s return to the sound that “made them fall in love with pop-punk again.”

The release comes on the heels of MGK’s latest album, lost americana, which recently earned him his third consecutive No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart. With over 20.6 billion streams and millions of albums sold worldwide, he continues to be one of the genre’s biggest commercial forces.

MGK is gearing up for his largest global tour yet, kicking off November 18 in Phoenix, AZ, before hitting North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. He’ll also headline three major events next month: the 30th Anniversary Vans Warped Tour in Orlando, the 112th Bud Light Grey Cup Halftime Show in Winnipeg, and the Formula 1 Heineken Grand Prix in Las Vegas.

“no cell phones in rehab” feels like MGK cracking open a time capsule—one that reminds fans why Tickets To My Downfall hit so hard in the first place. It’s messy, melodic, and brutally honest. Five years later, MGK hasn’t just revisited the sound that made him a rock star—he’s reclaiming it with new perspective and old fire.
