Kristen Bell has seemingly reacted to backlash over her wedding anniversary tribute celebrating 12 years of marriage with her husband, Dax Shephard, by limiting the comment section on the Instagram post.
On October 18, Bell, 45, captioned a photo of herself and Shephard, 50, wrapped in each other’s arms, “Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: ‘I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I’m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would.’”
She was quickly dragged for her words which some users described as “tone deaf” due to October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
“Crazy thing to joke about honestly,” one person wrote. “Sincerely, someone who thankfully survived.”

Another person added, “Domestic violence isn’t a joke,” while a third chimed in and said, “Not funny at all. What kind of man says that to his wife? Oh wait, I know exactly what kind. Get out now, Kristen.”
However, not everyone was triggered by the Nobody Wants This star’s words and several appreciated her dark humor, including America’s Got Talent host Terry Crews.
“This is LOVE,” Crews, 57, wrote.
Neither Bell or Shephard have publicly responded to the backlash.
