Billy Porter is off the market as he and his new boyfriend, Eric Anderson, have hard launched their romance.
“🤎🤎 #datenight,” read the caption of a joint Instagram post from Porter, 56, and Anderson uploaded on Thursday, October 23.
The post included a sweet photo of Porter and Anderson while they were together in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The couple were all smiles and held hands while sitting at a table.
According to Anderson’s Instagram page, he is a fitness enthusiast with a passion for yoga and CrossFit. He is based in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
While it is unclear when Porter and Anderson started dating, the pair have seemingly known each other for quite some time. Porter popped up on Anderson’s social media page for the first time in July. Anderson posted a photo of himself and the Tony winner at a New York City Pride event.
“NYC Pride didn’t disappoint 🏳️🌈,” Anderson captioned the slideshow, which included a pic of him posing alongside Porter.
Last month, Anderson posted a sweet tribute in honor of Porter’s birthday.
“Not only celebrating birth, life, and longevity, but gratitude,” Anderson captioned a snap of the twosome. “Grateful you are here and to be here with you. Happy Birthday @theebillyporter I love you ❤️.”
In September, Porter was diagnosed with a “serious case” of sepsis. The condition led to Porter ending his stint in Broadway’s Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club early.
“Due to a serious case of sepsis, Billy Porter must also withdraw from the production,” a statement shared on the show’s social media account read at the time. “His doctors are confident that he will make a full recovery but have advised him to maintain a restful schedule.”
While Porter was scheduled to remain on the show through mid-October, Cabaret announced that it would be closing a month early.
“It is with a heavy heart that we have made the painful decision to end our Broadway run on September 21,” producer Adam Speers said in a September statement to Entertainment Weekly. “On behalf of all the producers, we’re so honored to have been able to bring this version of John Kander, Fred Ebb, and Joe Masteroff‘s important masterpiece, Cabaret, to New York and to have opened the doors to our own Kit Kat Club for the year and a half we have been here.”
Speers continued, “Billy was an extraordinary Emcee, bringing his signature passion and remarkable talent. We wish Billy a speedy recovery, and I look forward to working with him again in the very near future.”
Before he began dating Anderson, Porter was previously married to Adam Smith. The pair tied the knot in January 2017. In July 2023, Porter and Smith had separated after six years of marriage.
“The decision was an amicable and mutual one and was made after much consideration,” Porter’s rep said in a statement to People. “They continue to love and support each other as they embark on this next chapter.”
Us Weekly later reported that Porter filed for divorce one month before news broke of their split. Their divorce was finalized in 2024.
