Matthew McConaughey Considers Risking $160 Million Fortune on Political Campaign (Exclusive) – National Enquirer

Matthew McConaughey believes he’ll make an alright, alright, alright public servant, a source tells the National Enquirer.

The Lost Bus star, who considered running for governor of Texas in 2021, “has stars in his eyes again” about launching a “political career.”

“I will continue to have that as an understandable aim in the category,” the Oscar winner, 55, told Vanity Fair in September of his ambitions for higher office, though he admitted that “politics is not inherently my language.”

“He cares about his country, no question,” praises the source. “In his family life and in his business life, he’s a born leader and he has defied the odds.”

“But the area he is totally unproven in is raising money,” the source adds, noting that the Poems & Prayers author may be able to charm fans, “but he’s never really been able to get people to write him checks, and that needs to change if he really wants to go for this.”

Another option is to dip into his $160 million fortune. “That’s even riskier. Nothing burns through cash like a political campaign,” the source points out.

He’d most likely need a green light from his wife of 13 years, Camila Alves, and three kids as well. “Matthew has the desire to spend his own money on a big run but that’s still a difficult path to walk and a difficult thing to put your family through,” continues the source. “You’re literally gambling their future on a popularity contest.”
