STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The St. George Theatre is celebrating Halloween in style this weekend with a full lineup of family-friendly fun.
The spooky celebration features classic films, live performances, and entertainment for all ages as part of the theatre’s annual “Halloweekend” festivities.
The festivities kick off Friday, Oct. 24, with a screening of the 1984 classic “Ghostbusters” as part of the theatre’s “Better on the Big Screen” movie series, sponsored by Williams Eye Works and Richmond University Medical Center.
Before the film, local zombie punk band The Flesh Junkies will perform live at 6:45 p.m., followed by a Costume Parade and the film screening at 7:30 p.m. Guests are encouraged to come in costume and join in the spooky fun.
On Saturday, Oct. 25, the celebration continues with a 50th anniversary screening of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”
The Flesh Junkies return to the stage for another performance at 9 p.m., followed by the movie at 10 p.m. Fans are invited to dress up, sing along and relive the beloved cult classic as it was meant to be seen—on the big screen.
The event will feature a special appearance by Dr. Frank-N-Furter, who will serve as emcee for the evening.

The weekend wraps up on Sunday, Oct. 26, with “Frankenstem Returns: The Musical,” a family-friendly Halloween show written and directed by Diane Zerega.
The musical follows Dr. Frankenstem and his quirky crew—Igor, the Creature and the Bride—as they experiment with wacky STEM projects at the Transylvania County Fair.
Audiences can expect laughter, songs and plenty of spooky surprises as the team learns the value of fun in science. Makeup is by Victoria Zaccardo.
The cast features Shane Drucker and Jared Polanco alternating as Dr. Frankenstem, Eli Gottesman as the Creature, Marykate Brown and Jacklyn Kirshbaum alternating as the Bride, and Alexandra Lonardo and Selena Velez as Igor 1 and Igor 2.
