STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Staten Island’s favorite murderous mouse is setting sail once again.

Director Steven LaMorte, the Monsignor Farrell High School alum behind the viral horror-comedy “Screamboat,” announced this week that a sequel is officially on the way. Titled “Screamboat 2: Nothing Stays Dead,” the follow-up will expand on the first film’s cliffhanger ending — and, yes, introduce Minnie Mouse into the chaos.

LaMorte teased the project at the Fangoria Chainsaw Awards on Oct. 19, where “Screamboat” won Best Public Domain Resurrection, before officially confirming the sequel to “Variety” on Monday.

The sequel will reportedly begin development in 2026. The first film, which premiered in April and hit Peacock in September, reimagined Disney’s 1928 “Steamboat Willie” short as a Staten Island Ferry-set slasher, filmed aboard the decommissioned ferry co-owned by Pete Davidson and Colin Jost.

LaMorte, who grew up on Staten Island and frequently collaborates with hometown team Fuzz on the Lens Productions, said in a statement to “Variety”:

“We had so much fun bringing these iconic characters to life with a bloody twist, and I look forward to returning to the world of ‘Screamboat’ to create even more miniature murder and mayhem.”

When reached for comment, Fuzz on the Lens — the Staten Island production company behind “Screamboat,” “STREAM” and the wildly popular “Terrifier” franchise — told the Advance/SILive.com that while they’re excited to see the franchise continue, their own involvement in the sequel isn’t yet confirmed.

“We are very happy with the response ‘Screamboat’ has received from audiences around the world and the Chainsaw Award is just icing on the cake,” the team told the Advance/SILive.com in a statement. “It’s an honor that our films have received multiple Chainsaw Awards at this point and we hope to continue that trend in the future. So we are very happy that ‘Screamboat’ will be sailing on, Steven and Amy are the perfect people to have at the helm. However, due to our other upcoming sequels of ‘STREAM 2′ and ‘Terrifier 4,’ among a few other horror and comedy projects that will be announced soon, we can’t fully confirm what our involvement in the sequel will be at this time.”

“Screamboat” is now streaming on Peacock and will be released on SteelBook Blu-ray in January 2026.
