When Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse releases in 2027, it’ll be doing so with a distinction that neither of its two predecessors have.
What’s the big Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse update?
In a recent post on social media, writer Christopher Miller chimed in on a topic of the film’s IMAX presence. A fan asked whether or not Beyond the Spider-Verse would utilize the full IMAX ratio and “expand” for this film.
In a response that got fans excited, Miller confirmed they would, simply saying “heck yeah we will” in response. Whether or not the film will be completely in IMAX’s full ratio is unknown, as film’s have utilized different ratios in the past. However, judging by Miller’s comments, it seems like this Spider-Man is making sure to check off all the boxes when it comes to presentation.
Beyond the Spider-Verse is releasing more than four years after its predecessor, 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, on June 18, 2027. The movie was originally planned to be released on March 29, 2024; however, it was removed from Sony’s calendar in July 2023 due to delays from the writers’ and actors’ strikes.
Following its initial delay, the film was thought to be planned for release sometime this year. However, a new report from Jeff Sneider of The InSneider in September 2024 said that the film was going to be delayed until 2027 due to production delays and the scheduling of other Spider-Man related content.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the first film in the animated franchise, is currently available to stream on Fubo and FXNOW, while Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse can be viewed on Disney+ and Fubo.
