An expert has warned that if Prince Harry doesn’t mend fences with the Royal Family, his children could grow up in California without knowing their Royal relatives. Currently residing in Montecito, California, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are raising their two young children, six-year-old Prince Archie and four-year-old Princess Lilibet.
The couple made the United States their home after stepping back from Royal duties in 2020. Speaking to the Sun’s Royal Exclusive, Royal commentator Hugo Vickers said, “If I was being brought up in California, and I suddenly discovered that my first cousin was likely to be King one day, I would like to get to know him, obviously.”
Vickers previously expressed concerns about potential difficulties the children might face later in life upon learning about their parents’ decision to step away from royalty. He stated, “One day, as they grow up, they’re going to get irritated by having had the backs of their heads photographed and used for promotion, and never having met their grandfathers, either side.”
Prince Harry recently returned to the UK for a series of charity engagements, including the WellChild Awards. Amid public comparisons between Harry and Prince William’s engagements, Vickers described such comparisons as “counterproductive.”
He commented, “Even when he was over here, people were comparing the engagements that he was doing with what Prince of Wales and Catherine were doing,” reports the Express.
“And it’s very counterproductive. But having said that, you know, I’m all for him reconciling with his father because he carries a lot of emotional baggage around with him anyway, the death of his mother. He’s probably, looks pretty unhappy in his present life out in Montecito.”
Mr Vickers added, “I also worry about the children because there’s going to come a point when they’re going to say, why haven’t I met my grandfather on either side?”
“And so he’s storing up a lot of, you know, emotional problems for them, I think.”
During an ABC special broadcast on September 21, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry recently looked back on bringing their kids to Disneyland for Lilibet’s fourth birthday.
The family outing sparked cherished memories for both, including Harry’s 1993 trip to Disney World with Princess Diana and Prince William.
For Meghan, who was raised in Los Angeles, her return to Disneyland felt sentimental.
She said, “I’m a Southern California girl, so being able to go to Disneyland is a lot more accessible than it is for most people, but it’s still the biggest treat in the world.”
Prince Harry described how his children were thrilled before stepping into the park.
“They’re like, ‘This is amazing!'” he recalled.
“I told them, ‘Guys, this isn’t even the front of it. Prepare yourself. You’re about to be blown away.'”
