Steven Soderbergh took to BlueSky to address his canned Star Wars: The Hunt for Ben Solo, which Adam Driver described as one of the coolest scripts he has been part of (via AP). Unfortunately, the Disney execs rejected Soderbergh’s pitch, even though the revered auteur presented them with a finished draft.
For the record, I did not enjoy lying about the existence of The Hunt For Ben Solo, but it really did need to remain a secret…until now!
What makes this worse is that Lucasfilm approved the Ocean’s Eleven director’s vision, making this the first finished movie script from Lucasfilm that Disney outright rejected.
