Extending a helping hand to Prince Andrew won’t get you very far in the court of public opinion—just ask British lawyer Samantha Kane, also known as Lady Carbisdale. As the disgraced royal continues to deal with the fallout from his involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, and as pressure mounts for him to vacate the Royal Lodge, his longtime mansion in Windsor Great Park, the barrister publicly offered Andrew, 65, the use of her castle in the Scottish Highlands. Now, Kane exclusively tells the National Enquirer, she’s receiving serious backlash.
“I am really under a lot of pressure to withdraw this invitation because I’m losing my own clients, friends and connections, and I’m being attacked on social media. I’ve even had threats against me and the castle,” says Kane, 65, who purchased and renovated Carbisdale Castle in Culrain, Scotland in 2022, and christened herself Lady Carbisdale at that time.

One person threatened, “we are going to torch your castle,” she says. “It is really quite frightening.” Others attacked Kane’s character, calling her a “friend of pedophiles.” She calls this “nonsense” and emphasizes, “I do not condone any such abuse of children.” Her reason for offering lodging to Andrew—whom she does not know personally and who throughout the scandal has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing—is that she believes in the principle of innocent until proven guilty.
“I really thought he deserved to be treated a little bit fairer because everybody is treating him like he’s some sort of convicted criminal which of course he is not,” she says.
“I think King Charles is under a world of pressure with his brother Prince Andrew and many are criticizing him for housing him in any of the royal estates…I really made the offer as a service to my King and my country.”

On Friday, October 17, Andrew officially gave up his royal titles, so while he is still known as “Prince,” he is no longer the Duke of York. Days later, The Times published details of his lease agreement at Royal Lodge, revealing that his rent is just “one peppercorn (if demanded)” per year.
Despite the threats, Kane says the offer still stands.
