Robert Irwin has posted a special tribute to his late dad which has left fans “crying.”
The Dancing with the Stars contestant took a moment to honor his father Steve Irwin, best known as the Crocodile Hunter, with a video on Instagram on Saturday, Oct. 25. Steve died on September 4, 2006 at the age of 44 after being pierced in the heart by a stingray’s barb while filming in the Great Barrier Reef.
The video opened up with a clip of the Crocodile Hunter saying, “Is there anything in this world that would want to make me give away what I’m doing now? Yes. Yes there is.”
He continued, “When my children can take the football that I call wildlife conservation and run it up. When they’re ready to run up our mission, I will gladly step aside.”
The video then showed clips of Steve with his children, his wife, and Robert following in his father’s footsteps with animals.
Steve continues, “And I guarantee you, it’ll be the proudest moment of my life. And my job will be done. Then, and only then, will I know that I have achieved my ultimate goal to be able to stand aside and let them run up my mission.”
The Crocodile Hunter and his wife, Terri Irwin, 61, share two children together, Bindi, 27, and Robert. They all honor his legacy working at the Australia Zoo in Queensland, Australia.
Robert captioned the post, “To continue this legacy is the honour of my life. If I can make my dad proud, I’ve done my job. Behind everything I do is a conservation mission that my dad started.”

The post left many in tears as one person commented, “My literal herooooo!!! Your dad would be so proud of how you honor him!!” Another person wrote, “This family been making me cry for 20 years.”
A third user wrote, “Jesus Christ robert! Can you give us one day to not cry?!?!?” A fourth commented, “I wasn’t planning on crying my eyes out today, sir.”
Robert is currently a contestant on Dancing with the Stars and on October 14, him and his dancing partner Witney Carson, danced to You’ll Be in My Heart by Phil Collins, dedicating it to his mother.
Before the big number, Robert cried while explaining to Witney why he was dedicating his dance to his mother, Terri, an “absolute hero” who raised him and his sister, Bindi, after their father died.
“I’ve never been able to capture the feeling of gratitude that I feel for her,” he admitted. “And at every milestone, I just wish that my dad was there. She was there and that was enough.”
