Cody “Beef” Franke, a fan favorite Barstool Sports personality and golf professional, has died. He was 31 years old.
Franke died following a “sudden medical incident over the weekend,” Barstool wrote in a Facebook post Monday, Oct. 27.
“From his time as a PGA professional to his time at Barstool Sports, Cody made so many people laugh, he made so many people smile, and he simply made so many people better,” the post read.
“Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with Cody’s entire family and loved ones,” the post continued. “We’ll be removing our hats for Cody today and everyday. Rest in peace to the classiest man we knew.”
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy also paid tribute to Franke, writing on X, “Barstool lost a member of our family this weekend. Just tragic news. You will never find a nicer more genuine person than Beef. It’s hard to even process it right now. Just another cruel reminder that tomorrow is never promised and to live each day to its fullest.”
Franke has been a member of the PGA for at least eight years, according to his Barstool Sports biography. A two-time PGA Section award winner, Franke was said to have helped more than 500 students “enjoy the game of golf.”
Franke joined Barstool in 2025 as a co-host of the “Foreplay” podcast.
“We are beyond devastated to announce that our good friend and cherished Barstool Sports colleague, Cody “Beef” Franke, passed away from a sudden medical issue over the weekend,” the podcast wrote on X.
