Sydney Sweeney recently offered up an update on the potential for an Anyone But You 2 movie, following the positive reception of the film starring her and Glen Powell.
What did Sydney Sweeney say about Anyone But You 2?
Speaking to Variety in a recent interview, Sweeney opened up about the 2023 romantic comedy that was a smash hit. Sweeney joked that the press was a driving force, mainly because of how the real-life relationship between Sweeney and Powell was portrayed.
“Honestly, the press did it themselves. There was no leaning in, per se,” Sweeney said. “Truly the tabloids and journalists just created it and kept going. Even if we were just standing next to each other, it was ‘They’re standing two inches apart!’ Glen and I genuinely care for each other and have a love and respect for one another. I love being with him. And I think people just truly saw a really beautiful pairing.”
As far as a sequel goes, though, Sweeney said that she’d be up for it almost immediately, and she knows her co-star would be as well.
“We are always open to it,” said Sweeney. “I think that when the right concept and script come to Glen and I, we will jump in hand in hand.”
Alongside Sweeney and Powell, 2023’s Anyone But You starred Alexandra Shipp, GaTa, Hadley Robinson, Michelle Hurd, Dermot Mulroney, Darren Barnet, Bryan Brown, and Rachel Griffiths. The movie grossed more than $220 million at the global box office.
