Chris Evans and his wife Alba Baptista have welcomed their first child together, three years after the actor said he was ready to become a dad

Chris Evans, 44, who famously brought the superhero to life across multiple Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, has welcomed his first child with wife Alba Baptista, 28, in Massachusetts on Friday, October 24. TMZ first reported the news on Tuesday, October 28, and PEOPLE confirmed it.
TMZ recently updated that the Portuguese actress reportedly had a baby girl, who is named Alma Grace Baptista Evans. Chris and Alba first sparked dating rumors in 2021 and in November 2022, a source confirmed to PEOPLE they were dating “for over a year.” The couple got married in a intimate ceremony at a private estate in Cape Cod, Massachusetts in September 2023.

Chris and Alba also had another wedding ceremony in Portugal that same year. Chris and Alba have largely remained private about their relationship. This new development follows his emotional confession three years prior, reports the Irish Star. Back in 2022, Chris revealed to PEOPLE for the magazine’s 2022 Sexiest Man Alive cover (which he took the honor that year) that starting a family was his dream.
“Wife, kids, building the family. I mean, that’s absolutely something I want,” he shared to the outlet.
“When you read about most of the best artists, whether it’s actors, painters, writers, most of them [admit] it wasn’t the work they made [that they are most proud of], it was about the relationships, the families they created, the love they found, the love they shared,” he added.
“So it’s also something through my long 41 years that also rings true. Those things are the most important. I love the idea of tradition and ceremony, I had a lot of that in my life so the idea of creating that, I can’t think of anything better,” Chris added.
In an interview with Access Hollywood in November 2024 at the premiere of Red One, the Snowpiercer star expressed his desire to become a father, saying “I hope so,” and adding, “The title of dad is an exciting one.”
Speculation about Chris and Alba starting a family began in June when her father, Luiz Baptista, responded to a fan account for the couple wishing him and Chris’ father, G Roberts Evans III, a happy Father’s Day. Luiz wrote, “Many thanks dear Chris. Your turn is coming!”
Before Alba, Evans was linked to several other high-profile stars, including Jessica Biel and Minka Kelly.
He also had a relationship with Jenny Slate after they co-starred in Gifted, but the couple officially ended things in 2018.
