Are Taylor Sheridan’s shows leaving Paramount+? See the future of ‘Landman’ and more

Taylor Sheridan, the creator of hit series including “Yellowstone” and “Landman,” has inked a five-year deal to develop entertainment for NBCUniversal. So, what does that mean for the future of his Paramount+ shows?

According to Deadline, Sheridan’s TV deal with NBCU doesn’t begin until 2029, giving him three more years to “finish out his Paramount series commitments.”

The television mogul’s current Paramount+ series are “Landman,” “Mayor of Kingstown,” “Lioness,” and “Tulsa King.”

Paramount Network has also greenlit two upcoming “Yellowstone” spinoffs, “The Madison” and a series about Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) tentatively titled “Dutton Ranch.” A “Tulsa King” spinoff titled “NOLA King” is slated to premiere next year as well.

The shows that Sheridan has developed for Paramount+ and Paramount Network aren’t going anywhere. There’s no reason shows like “Landman” have to end once Sheridan’s NBCU deal begins. He’ll be developing brand new content for the company rather than bringing his existing projects over to NBCU. However, there’s a good chance Sheridan will play a less hands-on role with his Paramount shows once the NBCU deal begins.

While it’ll be years before Sheridan starts developing TV shows for NBCU, he’s set to begin working on films for the company next year.

In the meantime, Sheridan has plenty on his plate at Paramount. Season 3 of “Tulsa King” and season 4 of “Mayor of Kingstown” are currently airing on Paramount+. Season 2 of “Landman” and season 1 of “NOLA King” are slated to premiere in 2026. ”Lioness” was recently renewed for season 3.

In 2022, when his smash hit “Yellowstone” was still airing, Sheridan admitted that he’s taken on an “excessive” amount of television projects.

“This volume of work is not sustainable for a long period of time,” he told Variety at the time. “But it’s an opportunity to tell stories the way I want to tell them with a creative freedom that just doesn’t exist in this space. And so I kind of have to take advantage of it. … I don’t know that I want to be doing it when I’m 60. So, I’d rather work real hard to do it now.”
