Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow‘s daughter Apple has released a new music video after her debut was slammed as an ‘off-key drunken karaoke performance.’

The 21-year-old nepo baby has attempted to follow in the massive footsteps of her 48-year-old Coldplay frontman father as she kickstarts her music career.

Apple dropped the visuals for the single Satellites in collaboration with indie rock duo Jade Street – comprised of Eli Meyuhas and  Zachary Zwelling – on Tuesday.

Gwyneth, 53, and Chris, 48, who were married from 2003 to 2016, are parents to Apple and her brother Moses, 19, who has also set his sights on the musical world.

Coldplay has scored seven Grammy Awards and nine Brit Awards and sold more than 160 million records worldwide, while her mother has also previously shown musical prowess, singing in films Duets, Country Strong, and Infamous.

Meanwhile, the moody song featured a just as moody music video as it was filmed in black and white at the her debut gig in Nashville last week where she was criticized for her vocals.

Her live singing could not be heard in the clip, however, as the studio version of the song was played as the chorus goes: ‘And I wanna take you away / I wanna push ’til it breaks.’

Toward the end of the clip, the aspiring star shows off a bit of personality as she dances a little bit before thanking the crowd at the conclusion of the song.

The rock duo opened up about how the collaboration with Chris Martin’s daughter happened in an accompanying press release as they said: ‘We wrote Satellites around a year ago but it never quite settled into what it wanted to be.

‘It lingered in the background for months until we played it for Apple. Her voice instantly reframed the entire song and gave it a whole new identity. It was clear that she was the missing piece the song needed and from there, the rest of the recording process felt completely instinctive.’

The music video was filmed at the same surprise gig where Apple had been criticized for her performance.

After videos of Friday’s show hit social media, an influx of comments saw the nepo-baby slammed for her vocal abilities – with many insisting she had not inherited the musical talents of the Coldplay frontman.

The aspiring artist was on stage at Cannery Hall in Nashville alongside musical duo Jade Street – however her performance was likened to drunken karaoke singing.

Users on TikTok wrote: ‘Nepotism has killed art,’ and, ‘This is a nepotism baby I don’t support.’ Meanwhile, another said: ‘Aren’t we bored with nepotism yet?’

While her Instagram post featuring the video was met with praise, some TikTok viewers appeared more scathing in their reviews of the performance.

Accusations of nepotism were rife following Apple’s performance of song Satellite, which she collaborated on with Jade Street, which is due for release on October 28.

On stage, the model looked chic in a cropped white top, black mini, and knee-high boots – however her vocals were deemed wholly less impressive.

TikTok comments included: ‘That’s on inheriting Gwyneth’s audacity,’ and ‘Sorry but she needs to leave the singing to her dad.’

Another said: ‘Is this a joke? I’m so confused… I was hopeful for a minute there. Maybe she’s better at acting?’

Meanwhile, one user said: ‘Nepotism. Yikes. She’s not a singer.’

A different comment read: ‘Nepotism at its finest’ and ‘Apple fell really far from the tree.’

Further comments on Instagram claimed she sounded like she was performing karaoke while drunk, while another likened her vocals to a famous scene in 2001’s Bridget Jones’s Diary, when Renée Zellweger sings while intoxicated.

The commenters continued: ‘I sound the same after a few drinks at karaoke’ and ‘I’m sorry but she needs to let her dad be the singer in the family.’

Another wrote: ‘Nepotism is wild. People with ordinary talent get the spotlight.’

One said: ‘I’ve seen better singers in my town’s middle school plays.’

Whereas one mused: ‘Remember the scene in Bridgette Jone’s Diary [sic] where she sang? Yea, that one.’

In contrast, more vetted comments on her own Instagram, which was also shared by Jade Street, read: ‘Gorgeous voice!!’ and ‘You sound heavenly,’ and ‘You sound amazing,’ as well as ‘It’s female Chris Martian now I don’t need to switch teams thank god.’

‘Sounds incredible!’ and ‘What a beautiful voice,’ were posted.

The model is studying at Vanderbilt University and told Interview magazine earlier this year that she is ‘a law, history and society major’.

However, she is dabbling in acting recreationally, telling the outlet, ‘I’m in the lovely Vanderbilt Original Cast, the esteemed cabaret theater group.

‘This semester’s show is a musical parody of Love Island called Love on an Island. It’s so fun. The songs are phenomenal.’

She said in the April interview, ‘I have a very low voice so whenever we’re doing harmonies, it’ll be like, “Alright, it’s the boys and Apple.”

‘I’m singing my absolute favorite song this semester, which I’m so excited about. I’m definitely not the best in the org, but I love it.’
