Hulu has renewed the popular mystery-comedy series “Only Murders in the Building” for a sixth season, with the show set to relocate to London. The renewal announcement coincided with the release of the Season 5 finale, according to a report by Variety.
The series stars Steve Martin as Charles-Haden Savage, Martin Short as Oliver Putnam and Selena Gomez as Mabel Mora, three residents of an Upper West Side apartment building called the Arconia who create a true-crime podcast while investigating mysterious deaths in their building.
Season 5 followed the trio as they looked into the suspicious death of their doorman, Lester, played by Teddy Coluca.
According to the official description, their investigation led them “into the shadowy corners of New York and beyond,” where they uncovered “a dangerous web of secrets connecting powerful billionaires, old-school mobsters and the mysterious residents of the Arconia.”
The fifth season also explored tensions between old and new New York, depicting “a deeper divide between their storied city they thought they knew and the new New York evolving around them — one where the old mob fights to hold on as newer, even more dangerous players emerge,” Variety reported.
According to Variety, the upcoming London-based sixth season will mark a significant departure from the show’s New York setting, but in what way has thus far yet to be revealed.
“Only Murders in the Building” has received 56 total Emmy Award nominations with seven wins.
