Inhaler have today (October 29) released a propulsive new single – listen to ‘Hole In The Ground’ below.

The song, which is the first new music to be shared by the Irish four-piece since the release of their last album, ‘Open Wide’ in February, was recorded with the album’s producer Kid Harpoon at Abbey Road Studios.

The song is described as “a yearning anthem blending melancholic hooks, layered guitars and gauzy atmospherics underpinned by a hypnotically pulsing groove,” in a statement.

Frontman Eli Hewson said of the song: “To us, ‘Hole In The Ground’ is a song that was born out of our stream of consciousness.

“Some time away from writing allowed us to go into the studio with a sort of blank slate which felt inspiring. It can be hard to talk about the meaning of your own songs sometimes but we see it as something fragile growing amongst a wreckage.

“Or that last blurry memory you have of a person. It’s sort of a meditation on hope and keeping yourself awake to life.”

The band will next play at the historic Royal Albert Hall in London, which is scheduled for October 31 and has already sold out.

The show mark the end of Inhaler’s ‘Open Wide’ tour, which comes in support of their third album of the same name. The album arrived in February via Polydor Records and features songs like ‘Your House’, ‘Billy (Yeah Yeah Yeah)’ and the title track.

In a four-star review of ‘Open Wide’, Ali Shutler wrote for NME: “Throughout ‘Open Wide’, Inhaler display a powerful confidence that’s impossible to resist. Comforting, cathartic and heaps of fun, it’s the sort of record that sounds brilliant on headphones but will really come to life, say, as the sun sets on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage.”

The band were also revealed as one of the acts performing alongside Paul Weller and Primal Scream for a new ‘Gig For Gaza’ live event in London.

The event, described as a “special night of music and solidarity”, took place on Friday October 17 at the historic TROXY venue in London. It comes in a bid to raise funds for those affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
