It’s official: Bad Company will be performing at their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.
Well, two of them will anyway.
Founding member and drummer Simon Kirke, 76, said in a recent interview on Lyndsanity! with Lyndsey Parker that he and lead singer Paul Rodgers will play two songs during the ceremony.
“I think the secret is out that we will perform,” Kirke said. “I’m not at liberty to say which songs. I mean, quite honestly, I don’t give a [expletive]. We’re gonna play, and whatever Paul chooses is fine by me.
“And just to play with [Rodgers] again is gonna be a real thrill for me, ’cause I missed him,” he continued. ”I missed playing with the band. I miss playing particularly with Paul, ’cause he’s such a wonderful singer.”
Rodgers and Kirk haven’t played together for more than five years, mainly because Rodgers, 77, has had 11 minor strokes and two major strokes over the past decade.
“I haven’t heard him sing since [we last played together], quite honestly,” Kirke said in response to a question about Rodgers’ abilities since the strokes. “I know he has sung, and we are gonna do a couple of rehearsals for the cameras and so on and so forth. But when you have a voice that naturally good, it’s gonna take a hell of a lot for it to fray or devalue or whatever. So I think he’s gonna be fine for the two songs that we’ve chosen.”
Rodgers and Kirke are the the only remaining members of Bad Company still alive. Guitarist Mick Ralphs died earlier this year and bassist Boz Burrell died in 2006.
The group is known for such classic rock staples as “Feel Like Makin’ Love,” “Rock n’ Roll Fantasy,” and “Can’t Get Enough.”
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place at 8 p.m. Nov. 8 and will stream live on Disney+.
