Popular rocker Scott Sorry of The Wildhearts has died.
Sorry died on Oct. 30 — his 47th birthday — according to a post on his social media account.
“We’re heartbroken to share that Scott Sorry has passed away after a long and incredibly brave fight with brain cancer,” the post on his Instagram read.
“After being diagnosed with Glioblastoma back in 2018, Scott refused to let it define him,” the post added. “He outlived every Doctors expectation, turning months into years, and even made it back to the UK in 2022 for a tour — something that meant the world to him. He was so grateful to be able to play again, to see so many familiar faces and to personally thank so many of you that had supported him through it all.
“We’re devasted beyond words, but there’s comfort in knowing he’s finally free from pain. His strength, humour, and heart will stay with us forever.”
The post also noted that Sorry, whose real name was Gerard Engelter, is survived by his wife, Hanni and three children, River, Ryder and Rorik.
Metro reported that Sorry was first diagnosed with a stage 4 tumor back in 2018, and that a new tumor was discovered in 2024. The outlet said he had surgery in March of that year and went through six months of radiation and chemotherapy. Then in November, per Metro, a new tumor was found behind his eye, making it inoperable, and that cost him to lose the use of his right arm and leg and struggle with his speech.
