Andrew Mountbatten Windsor may not move out of Royal Lodge until 2026 after being stripped of his prince title, it has been claimed.
The brother of King Charles has agreed to leave his home and move to Sandringham “as soon as practicable”, after a close friend of the monarch said ‘arrogant, boorish and entitled’ Andrew became too much of an ’embarrassment’ for the Royals.
The royal family had been under pressure to act after it was reported earlier this month that Andrew sent a supportive email to Jeffrey Epstein in 2011 saying “we’re in this together”, two months after he had claimed to have ceased contact with the convicted paedophile.
Having been told to leave Royal Lodge, Andrew has surrendered the lease to the property but may not move out until the new year due to the ‘protracted’ relocation process.
Andrew no longer appears on the official roll of the peerage, marking a key step in formally removing his titles. He will effectively have the status of a commoner and be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.
Andrew tainted the reputation of the royal family with his association with Epstein and was dogged by allegations he sexually abused Virginia Giuffre, who took her own life in April, after she was trafficked by the financier. He has strenuously denied the allegations.
