Halloween holds a special place in the hearts of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, as they revealed in their four-part 2022 Netflix documentary, Harry & Meghan.
The couple shared that they once enjoyed an incognito night out during the spooky season while they were still dating.
In October 2016, their budding romance was on the verge of being exposed by a tabloid newspaper.
Meghan recounted in the Netflix documentary: “And then [Prince Harry] and his brother’s Communications Secretary Jason [Knauf], called him to let him know that the story was scooped by a tabloid.
“[Prince Harry] said, ‘Well, if it’s gonna come out tomorrow, let’s go and have fun tonight.'”
The pair spent the evening with Prince Harry‘s cousin Princess Eugenie, her then-boyfriend Jack Brooksbank, and their friend Marcus.
Meghan reminisced: “It was so great. Just silly fun.”
She also previously disclosed that the Halloween party had a post-apocalyptic theme featuring plenty of camouflage and masks.
Halloween holds a special place in the couple’s hearts, as evidenced by a heartfelt post they shared on their now-inactive Sussex Royal Instagram account.
The 2019 photo, which commemorated their son Archie’s first Halloween, was captioned: “Happy Halloween!’ Wishing you all a safe and fun Halloween from our family (and our little pumpkin) to yours!'”.
Meghan also recently discussed their family’s Halloween traditions on the Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2021.
She disclosed that Archie only wore his dinosaur costume for “five minutes”, while their daughter Lilibet donned a skunk outfit reminiscent of the character Flower from Bambi.
Given the widespread celebration of Halloween in the United States, it’s likely that the family will once again dress up and go trick-or-treating incognito, much like they did during the early stages of their relationship.
