Firerose is ready to step into a new chapter of her music career.
The singer celebrated survival, strength and spiritual renewal when she released a new song called “Shining Armor (Rise Again).”
“I wrote this song with my extraordinary, beautiful friend @erin_molan,” Firerose, 36, wrote via Instagram on Friday, October 31. “I hope the lyrics empower you to set yourself free 🗽✨.”
The track is described by the musician as a declaration of independence and a symbol of everything she has fought to reclaim in recent years.
“I took hit after hit / But never made a sound / All the bruises I hid / All the ways he’d tear me down,” she sings. “Terrified & captive / Desperate to be free / Then I saw so clear / My knight in shining armor was me.”
The song also featured a music video filmed in New York City. Directed by Firerose herself, the footage aims to reflect the song’s message that true rescue begins within.
“I had to learn there was no one coming to save me,” Firerose said in a press release on Friday. “I had to be my own knight in shining armor. God gave me the strength, but I had to choose to fight for myself.”
Growing up in Sydney, Australia, Firerose’s childhood was marked by profound sadness and confusion. While she has been sober since 2016, the artist previously struggled with addiction and abuse.
“8 years ago, a peace beyond my understanding enveloped me in a cold jail cell. … God saved my life against insurmountable odds,” Firerose previously wrote via Instagram in November 2024. “From crippling addiction and near death, He brought me back to life… one breath at a time. Now 8 years sober by His profound grace, GOOD GOD ONLY YOU is my testimony.”
With “Shining Armor (Rise Again),” Firerose hopes to provide some hope and inspiration to old and new fans alike.
“I hope people hear these songs and know they’re not alone,” she explained. “That no matter how much pain you’ve been through, you can rise. You can be your own knight in shining armor.”
The “No One Asked Her” podcast host was previously married to Billy Ray Cyrus. They filed for divorce in May 2024, citing irreconcilable differences as the cause of their breakup. The pair’s divorce was finalized in August 2024.

Cyrus, 64, has since moved on with actress Elizabeth Hurley. After the pair went Instagram official in April, a source close to Firerose exclusively told Us Weekly that the singer is “currently focused on her music.”
