Actor Jonathan Bailey teased some information about the upcoming fourth season of the hit Netflix series, Bridgerton.
Swooon Magazine reported that Bailey, who’s starred as Lord Anthony Bridgerton since the show’s first season, which premiered in 2020, discussed the Regency romance’s upcoming fourth season during October 30’s Time100 Next event.
“I’ve seen the first episode, and it’s phenomenal. It’s really, really good,” said Bailey to Time while at the event.
He then referenced that the season will focus on Anthony’s brother, Benedict Bridgerton’s (Luke Thompson) relationship with Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha). In addition, the Wickedactor teased that Bridgerton fans will see more of the perspective of those who aren’t aristocrats, as Sophie is a servant.
“There’s one shot that happens quite early on in the episode that will blow the fans’ minds. It takes everyone on a journey to new parts of the household,” said Bailey in the interview. “Oh no, I’ve just said too much.”
In addition, Bailey complimented Thompson, Ha, and Katie Leung, who joined the show’s cast as Lady Araminta Gun.
Yerin Ha & Luke Thompson Discussed ‘Bridgerton’ Season 4
Ha and Thompson spoke about their Bridgerton characters’ Season 4 romance in a September 2024 interview on Shondaland. In the interview, Thompson said that Season 4, which will premiere in January 2026, is “a really nice mix of fairy tale and reality.” In addition, Ha referenced that Benedict and Sophie don’t belong to the same classes of society.
“You can kind of expect this, like, emotional tug of war. Or, like, this kind of push and pull between I guess what their heart desires and I guess what society kind of desires for them,” said Ha in the interview.
In addition, Thompson said his character is “trying to find some sort of solid thing” and is ready to “commit to something rather than flit around” during the fourth season.
“He’s a man of sort of many interests. And that’s great in some ways and in some ways though can betray a sort of sense of being a little lost or a little bit restless,” explained the actor. “And so that goes quite deep I think, and so there’s clearly something in him that’s not very comfortable. A bit scared or a bit worried about the idea of really committing to something and so I guess that’s partly the struggle for him in this season.”
