MSSU Music Announces Upcoming Events – The Chart

Over the next few months, the MSSU Division of Music in the Department of Performing Arts will be hosting a variety of concerts and performances open to the public. Here’s some highlights of the musical offerings coming up in the next few weeks at Southern

Brower Senior Recital

Charity Brower is having her senior recital on Thursday Nov. 6 at 7:30 AM.

“Who Will Love Me As I Am?” is the title and theme of her recital, which will feature a variety of Broadway songs, constructing a narrative written by the singer herself. Brower will be joined by pianist Kathy Nenadal; and singers Abby Brower, Chloe Brower, and Sophie Stoebel. This concert is free and open to the public

Honor Band

The Fine Arts Department will be hosting the MSSU Honor Band on Nov. 7 and 8 in the Fine Arts Complex.

Top students from middle and high school bands across the Four States area will be participating in rehearsals and workshops, culminating in a final concert. Students will also be performing alongside clinicians and MSSU instructors.

Southern Jazz Orchestra

The MSSU Southern Jazz Orchestra will be hosting a free concert Thursday, Nov. 13 beginning at 7:30 PM in the Bud Walton Black Box Theatre. The concert is open to the public.

MSSU Music Professor Scott Schneider directs this small group of jazz performers as they show their stuff on the stage. They will be showcasing their creativity and collaboration as they perform classic pieces along with newer arrangements.

Jackola & Worthington Student Recital

MSSU music students Jarrett Jackola and Josh Worthington will be holding their joint student recital Nov. 18, beginning at 7:30 PM in Corley Auditorium.

Join Jackola and Worthington as they showcase their talents, with Jackola performing on the trombone and Worthington showcasing the trumpet. The duo will perform a selection of music that will allow them to highlight their individual skills. Enjoy the exciting music of these students and experience the beauty and power these instruments have to offer.

This event is free and open to the public.
