SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Actress Diane Ladd died Monday. She was 89.
Diane Ladd, 3-time Oscar nominee, dies at 89
The 3-time Academy Award-nominated actress filmed her final movie right here in the Coastal Empire in 2022. Called “Isle of Hope,” it starred Ladd as a mother who is reunited with her estranged daughter — played by actress Mary Stuart Masterson — when the older woman falls ill.
Beth Graves Nelson, the former Executive Director and Film Commissioner of the Savannah Regional Film Commission made a heart-felt post on social media honoring the actress, saying, “I am mourning the loss of my friend, Diane Ladd. She was an amazing woman and I am proud to have known her.”

Nelson went on to say, “I loved our conversations and I will miss her, even though we haven’t spoken in a few years. She will hold a special place in my heart.”
