Beloved Burlesque icon Cher doesn’t agree with the old adage that age brings wisdom.
The 79-year-old music legend discussed aging during her interview with renowned television journalist Gayle King, 70, on an episode of CBS Mornings aired on Nov. 4.
“I keep waiting for this grown up feeling to kick in and I don’t have any hangups about aging. Do you?” Gayle asked of the Believe songstress.
Immediately, Cher answered, “Yes, I hate it! I’m 10 years older than you babe!”
Gayle noted that at least they were “wiser” and “more experienced.” However, the Grammy-winner was quick to confess that she didn’t agree with Gayle’s sentiment.
Cher added: “I think he’s beautiful. He’s really talented. He’s one of the most talented persons I’ve ever met.”
Although people often judge her relationship, it doesn’t bother her because “they’re not living” the life she is.
“Whatever,” she said to Gayle. “They’re not living my life. Nobody knows what goes on between us, but we just have a blast.”
At the end of the interview, Gayle wrapped it up by referencing a famous quote from Cher from a 1991 CBS interview.
“You were 45 and you said, ‘I want to be at 75, I want to be doing the same things I’m doing today and I don’t think I can do that unless I take care of my body,'” Gayle recited to Cher, adding, “You’ve sort of lived up to what you wanted to do back at 45.”
Cher said in her concluding response, “I don’t know how to do anything else. What am I gonna do? I love what I do.”
