Katy Perry has left fans reeling after unveiling a dark, bruised-up new look to promote her upcoming single Band-Aids.

On Tuesday, November 4, the pop superstar, 41, shared a haunting image on social media showing her face covered in scratches and bruises. 

In the picture, Perry’s top lip is split and her eyes appear cold and blank, a stark contrast from the splashy, near-nude cover art for her 2024 pop album, 143. 

Many fans speculated that the fake injuries were a symbol of her heartbreak following her split from longtime partner Orlando Bloom in June 2025 after nine years. 

Perry’s representatives have not responded to The Daily Mail’s request for comment about whether the track is a standalone release or the beginning of a new album cycle. 

The release comes just months after Perry and Bloom ended their on-and-off, nine-year relationship in early July. 

The pair share a five-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove.

Since the breakup, the singer has made headlines for her rumored new romance with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. 

Last month, they made headlines holding hands in Paris and kissing on a yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara.

On Wednesday, Perry shared a teaser for her upcoming music video.

In an eight-second clip, Perry is seen reaching into a garbage disposal – only to trigger a geyser of blood. 

What follows is a montage of self-destructive misadventures from sawing off the branch she’s sitting on and tumbling down an escalator to being electrocuted at a gas station.

The chaotic imagery has fans theorizing that the video is a metaphor for emotional self-sabotage. 

Perry’s last project, her uptempo seventh studio album 143, dropped in September 2024 and debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200.
