Katy Perry shares the powerful motivation that got her through Orlando Bloom split in new music video

Katy Perry revealed the powerful inspiration that gave her strength to keep going amid her split from Orlando Bloom in her latest music video.

The singer, 41, released the video for her new hit, Bandaids, on Thursday. The song has obvious references to her and Bloom’s, 48, relationship and hints at the reason for their breakup.

Perry — who has since moved on with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, 53 — and Bloom called it quits in June after nearly a decade together. They share a 5-year-old daughter named Daisy Dove.

In the gory video, Perry sings about trying to save a dying relationship as she survives a number of unfortunate accidents, including sticking her hand in a garbage disposal, her shoelace getting caught in an escalator, and a tree log falling off from the truck in front of her and hitting her car.

She then gets her foot caught on the train tracks as an oncoming train speeds toward her, and that’s when she catches sight of a daisy, a touching nod to their daughter.

‘If I had to do it all over again / I would still do it all over again / The love that we made was worth it in the end,’ she sings, as she frees herself from the tracks at the last second.

The sweet nod suggests their daughter was the inspiration that helped Perry keep going. 

The song starts out with Perry singing about trying to save her union.

‘Hand to God, I promised, I tried / There’s no stone left unturned,’ she sings in the first verse.

‘It’s not what you did, it’s what you didn’t/ You were there, but you weren’t,’ she explains.

‘Got so used to you letting me down / No use tryna send flowers now / Telling myself you’ll change, you don’t / Band-Aids over a broken heart.’

In the second verse she sing, ‘Wе were perfect ’til we weren’t / Now we’ve got too many splinters.’

In the chorus Perry talks about all the ways she’s tried to fix the relationship, ‘Tried all the medications / Lowered my expectations / Made every justification / Bleeding out, bleeding out, bleeding out slow / Band-Aids over a broken heart.’

At one point Perry tells her lover that she is asking for the bare minimum and that he’s not putting in any effort: ‘It’s not that complicated / To ask me how my day is.’ 

She then adds, ‘I’m flatlining trying to save this.’

However, at the end, after seeing the daisy, Perry admits she would still do it all over again, and that their love was ‘worth it.’

At the end of the clip she lights up a cigarette at a gas station, causing a giant explosion.

The pop superstar shared a haunting image on social media showing her face covered in scratches and bruises on Tuesday.

In the picture, Perry’s top lip is split and her eyes appear cold and blank, a stark contrast from the splashy, near-nude cover art for her 2024 pop album, 143.

Many fans speculated that the fake injuries were a symbol of her heartbreak following her split from longtime partner Orlando in June 2025 after nine years.

Perry’s representatives have not responded to The Daily Mail’s request for comment about whether the track is a standalone release or the beginning of a new album cycle.

Perry’s last project, her uptempo seventh studio album 143, dropped in September 2024 and debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200.

Since the breakup, the singer has made headlines for her new romance with Trudeau.

Last month, they made headlines holding hands in Paris and kissing on a yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara.

A source recently told Us Wekely that Perry is ‘really into’ Trudeau.

‘Katy is really into it. She’s very happy,’ the insider shared. ‘She’s trying to keep it low-key, and they’ve spent a lot of private time together. She’s not looking to publicize this relationship.’

The insider added: ‘Their friends think they are a good match, but he actually hasn’t met a lot of her friends yet.’
