Princess Beatrice Granted New Royal Role as Dad Andrew’s Titles Are Officially Stripped

In the wake of the fallout surrounding the former Prince Andrew, Princess Beatrice made an appearance with another royal family member as she was announced in a new role.

Beatrice will be the new Deputy Patron of Outward Bound, a U.K.-based charity that helps children of all backgrounds grow through exposure to nature and outdoor adventures. She has already served as a Trustee with the organization since 2019.

Beatrice, 37, joins her uncle Prince Edward, 61, in the venture, who will serve as the Royal Patron of the organization. It’s a fitting takeover as his father, the late Prince Philip, who was the previous Duke of Edinburgh, served as the primary patron of Outward Bound for many years until he died in 2019.

Martin Davidson, Chief Executive of Outward Bound, said in a statement, “With The Duke of Edinburgh and Princess Beatrice working alongside us, we’re embarking on a new chapter. One where every young person has the chance to test their limits, build confidence and discover that anything is possible. Their support reflects a shared belief that adventure changes lives.”

The appointments of Princess Beatrice and Prince Edward were announced at a special event for the charity’s supporters at St. James’s Palace in London on Thursday, Nov. 6. There, guests heard from teens Sadie and Leo, students at the Walsall Academy in the West Midlands, about their Outward Bound adventure in the Lake District earlier this year.

Princess Beatrice’s new role comes amid a tumultuous few weeks for her family, following King Charles’ decision to strip her father, Andrew, of his royal titles and residence.

On Friday, Nov. 7, the Crown Office in The Gazette, the U.K.’s official public record, published details of the King’s Nov. 3 Letters Patent, a legal document expressing the will of the monarch.

The entry states: “The King has been pleased by Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm dated 3 November 2025 to declare that Andrew Mountbatten Windsor shall no longer be entitled to hold and enjoy the style, title or attribute of ‘Royal Highness’ and the titular dignity of ‘Prince.’ “

PEOPLE understands that Princess Beatrice and her younger sister, Princess Eugenie, 35, will retain their royal titles in accordance with King George V’s Letters Patent of 1917, as they are daughters of a son of a sovereign. They both remain princesses and will continue to have the styling of Her Royal Highness.

While Beatrice and Eugenie aren’t technically working royals, Beatrice does serve another important position within the royal family. After King Charles acceded to the throne in 2022, she was appointed as a Counsellor of State, which means she can execute constitutional duties if the King is abroad or unwell.

Beatrice has been married to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi since 2020, and they share two daughters: Sienna, 4, and Athena, 10 months, as well as Mozzi’s 9-year-old son, Christopher Woolf.

Beatrice and Edoardo’s daughters don’t currently hold royal titles in England; however, they did inherit Italian nobility on their father’s side. As the eldest son of Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi, Edoardo will eventually inherit his family’s ancestral seat, the 18th-century Villa Mapelli Mozzi palace in northern Italy.

Upon their wedding day, Princess Beatrice became an Italian “Contessa” and “Nobile Donna,” and their daughters — and any future children — will follow suit.
