Paresh Rawal’s latest courtroom drama, The Taj Story, opened to abysmal reviews from users and critics, but it somehow managed to survive its first week.
Apart from many users, a Congress functionary also called The Taj Story a propaganda and also mocked the box office collection of the film.
The controversy began when the Congress member reacted to a box office update on November 10, commenting in Hindi, “Now, get Modi Ji to watch the screening as well… Paresh Ji, the film won’t run without propaganda. The movie would have earned more without your acting. It’s unfortunate; you used to be such a great actor.”

Paresh Rawal wasn’t willing to let the remark slide. Taking to X on Monday, he replied, “Saurabh bhai FYI the film was made in approx 6-7 crores and so far has made approx 15 crore and still counting ! Since you people will have to buy BURNOL in huge quantities we can afford to give donation.”

The Taj Story’s Collection
As per Sacnilk, The Taj Story began its theatrical journey with ₹1 crore on its opening Friday. The film showed decent traction over the weekend, collecting ₹2 crore on Saturday and ₹2.75 crore on Sunday, taking its three-day total to ₹5.75 crore.
The reported budget of The Taj Story is ₹25 crore.
During the weekdays, the business dipped slightly compared to the weekend spike. The Paresh Rawal starrer collected ₹1.15 crore on Monday, followed by ₹1.6 crore each on Tuesday and Wednesday and ₹0.9 crore on Thursday. Despite the slowdown, the movie managed to stay consistent enough to finish its first week with an estimated total of ₹11 crore at the domestic box office.
