In a competitive weekend led by Predator: Badlands, specialty titles contributed strongly to the overall box office. Russell Crowe’s Nuremberg ranked fifth in wide release with $4.15 million at 1,802 locations, while Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value earned $200,000 on four screens for a per-theater average of $50,000, the best for a foreign-language title since before the pandemic. Other specialty titles saw varied results. David Michôd’s Christy, featuring Sydney Sweeney as boxer Christy Martin, opened to $1.3 million. Bugonia from Focus Features earned $3.5 million in its third week for a total of $12.3 million. Amazon MGM’s faith-based Sarah’s Oil grossed $4.5 million.
Industry executives described the marketplace as crowded, with one saying, “Everybody is vying for audiences and there’s some crossover with all of these movies, so it’s a little tough from that perspective.”
