Upcoming country music star Megan Moroney has announced plans Tuesday morning for her second album. “Cloud 9″ is set for release February 20.
Moroney shared the news on her website with a collection of exclusive pre-order bundles for fans.
Known for hits like “Tennessee Orange” and “I’m Not Pretty,” Moroney gained national interest after her debut “Lucky“ in 2023.
She sparked fan speculation about a potential new album after posting a teaser video to Instagram on Sunday.
Peter Chakerian, life & culture editor for cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer, offered his thoughts when news of the album first made waves.
“Given her conversational tone to her songwriting and the enduring popularity of the ‘Barbie’ movie and toy line, it’s a good guess she’s going to mine it for pop cultural impact,” Chakerian said. “I’m hopeful it’s commentary akin to what singer-songwriter Elise Trouw has been doing with her own musical soapbox lately. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.”
Moroney released her debut EP, “Pistol Made of Roses,” in 2022 and her solo album, “Lucky,” in 2023.
