It looks like Akon was “Locked Up” recently.
The rapper, whose real name is Aliaune Thiam, was arrested in Georgia after being busted for a warrant in DeKalb County last Thursday, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to TMZ.
The Chamblee Police Department booked the “Noticing You” rapper into jail, but he was released about six hours later.
It was all due to an out-of-county bench warrant issued for failure to appear for a suspended license, which took place on Nov. 7, per legal documents obtained by the news outlet.
Back in September, Akon was driving a Tesla Cybertruck in Georgia. While police were on patrol, they discovered a Cybertruck stranded in the middle of the road. Akon explained to cops that his battery for the car died.
The authorities then called a tow truck to remove the vehicle and while waiting for those services to arrive, an officer discovered that the rapper’s license was suspended for a failure to appear that happened in January 2023.
Authorities then issued Akon a citation for driving while his license was suspended. The officer also added in the report that “an illegal vape in the center was seized during the inventory and submitted for destruction.”
Ultimately, he was released from the scene.
