Ahead of next week’s release of the movie “Wicked: For Good,” the Central Arkansas Library System is taking two trips down the Yellow Brick Road on Saturday at the Ron Robinson Theater, 120 River Market Ave., Little Rock, screening a remastered version of the 1939 “The Wizard of Oz” at 12:30 p.m. and 1978’s “The Wiz” at 7 p.m. simpletix.com.

Czech Republic puppet troupe Alfa Theatre performs “Mr. Kašpar and His Jolly Family” at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Martin Children’s Center at the Central Arkansas Library System Main Library, 100 Rock St., Little Rock. After the 35-minute performance there will be a 30-minute workshop in which children can step backstage, handle the puppets, experiment with traditional puppeteering instruments and even try a short scene under the guidance of the actors. events.cals.org.

MUSIC 

The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra dresses down for its annual “Beethoven & Blue Jeans” concerts, 7:30 p.m. Saturday Nov. 15 and 3 p.m. Sunday Nov. 16, at Little Rock’s Robinson Center Performance Hall, 426 W. Markham St. at Broadway. Pianist Orion Weiss solos in Ludwig van’s Piano Concerto No. 4; works by Mexican composers — the Suite from “La noche de los Mayas” by Silvestre Revueltas, “Guadalupe” by Marco-Adrián Ramos and “Danzón No. 2” by Arturo Márquez — round out the program. Geoffrey Robson conducts. The orchestra throws a free street party for ticket holders two hours before each concert on the street in front of the hall. Dress casually, in blue jeans if you like. Weiss joins the orchestra’s Quapaw Quartet to play Robert Schumann’s Piano Quintet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the orchestra’s Stella Boyle Smith Music Center, 1101 E.
