Spooky characters take over New York Comic Con 2025
New York Comic Con took over Manhattan’s Jacob Javits Center with thousands of pop culture fans ready to kick off spooky season.
The Motor City and Grand Rapids Comic Con are underway bringing celebrity guests, comic-related toys and four-color wonders to both sides of Michigan this weekend.
Fans of the arts have the opportunity to attend Motor City Comic Con, at Suburban Collection Showcase in Novi, and the Grand Rapids Comic Con, at DeVos Place, this weekend, Nov. 14-16, with vendors, panels, crafts and exhibits. Guests of all ages are encouraged to nerd out and dress up as their favorite comic book or movie character and potentially meet their idol.
“Motor City Comic Con is a haven for fans, with comic creators, artists, celebrities, panels, cosplay, and more,” the Motor City Comic Con posted on Instagram.
Ticket prices for adult day-passes range from $35-$54, and may be purchased online, including VIP or special event tickets and child tickets.
At the Motor City Comic Con, celebrity guests include cast members from the “Twilight” series; actor Juliette Lewis, known for the TV show “Yellowjackets” and other projects; Matthew Lillard, known for the “Scooby-Doo” movies; and many others.
At the Grand Rapids Comic Con, guests include actor Billy Zane, known for movies like “Titanic” and “The Phantom;” actors from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; voice actors for the characters Bell and Gaston, from the 1991 Disney movie “Beauty and the Beast,” and others.

The Motor City Comic Con is from noon to 7 p.m. Nov. 14; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 15; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 16.

For the Motor City Comic Con, parking at the Suburban Collection Showplace is a first come, first-served basis at $10 pass per vehicle. Guests who leave can’t return without making an addition pass purchase.
For the Grand Rapids Comic Con, the DeVos Place has parking located under the convention center where can be accessed on Michigan and Lyon strees, according to the DeVos Place. Additional parking may be available in the City-County Building on Monroe Avenue, across from DeVos Place.

What are the rules for cosplaying at the the cons?
Here are the cosplay guidelines from the Grand Rapids and Motor City Comic Con for all participants:
- All costumes must be family-friendly, i.e., no lewdness or vulgarity (no nudity).
- No live steel weapons or real guns are allowed. All weapons must be peace-bonded, must have an orange safety tip, and may not contain any sharp edges or points. All weapons are subject to inspection upon entrance to the event.
- If your costume includes a weapon of some sort, make sure that the weapon is visibly and obviously fake. Weapons should be made of plastic, foam, rubber, or some other form of softer material. All guns must have an orange tip.
- No projectiles of any kind will be allowed. This includes arrows, throwing stars, darts, foam, water, paper, silly string, plastic, food, metal, etc.
- Respect others’ personal space, i.e., no touching of any kind or aggressive behavior.
- No harassment of any kind will be tolerated.
- No profanity will be tolerated.
- Absolutely no cosplay that is inflammatory, racist or discriminatory in any way.
- Any other behavior witnessed that is deemed to be inappropriate.
- Be aware of the circumference of your cosplay. Having large aspects of your cosplay (such as armor or wings) can take up much of the aisles and hallways. Be aware and keep yourself and others safe when exploring the convention.

Bags and backpacks are allowed at the Motor City and Grand Rapids Comic Con, but are subject to be checked at the discretion of staff and security.
