Danny DeVito has two new loves in his life: His grandchildren. The iconic actor opened up about being a “doting grandpa” to Sinclair and Carmine.
“Like I have to restrain myself from jumping in the car and going over, you know what I mean?” he told Page Six in an interview Saturday, November 15. “It’s just a wonderful thing that I’m like 15 minutes away from where they live.”
The Always Sunny in Philadelphia star, 80, told the outlet he intends to raise his grandchildren into “real Italians.”
“I find myself needing a fix, getting in the car, calling them up and saying, ‘What’s happening tonight? Can Pop Pop come over for a plate of pasta?'” he said. “They’re going to talk like, ‘Wanna cup of cawfee?’ It’s going to be all that!”
DeVito shared daughters Lucy and Gracie, as well as son Jake, with estranged wife Rhea Perlman.
He and his Matilda costar, 77, were together for more than 40 years when they announced their split in 2017. Despite their separation, the couple has not divorced and still remain close friends.
“Danny and I have always loved each other and we have three amazing children together and we really agree on almost everything important and so, you know, we were together for 40 years,” Perlman told host Andy Cohen during a 2019 appearance on Watch What Happens Live.
