Fiction Writer’s Workshop | East Baton Rouge Parish Library Bluebonnet Regional

Aspiring authors and fiction writers can stop by the Bluebonnet Regional Library at 6:30 p.m. for an opportunity to meet local authors, participate in a writing workshop and get feedback on their current work. This organization meets every third Monday of the month, but also sends out monthly stories for digital feedback. LSU Science Café: Asians on the Third Coast, an Anthology | Varsity Theatre

Visit the Varsity Theatre at 6 p.m. for a deep dive with professors Madoka Kishi and Pallavi Rastogi into the way Asians and Asian Americans have shaped the state of Louisiana culturally, politically and gastronomically. Louisiana has a rich history shaped by immigrants from across the world, making our state a center for cultural diversity. This event is free to attend but advanced registration is required.

LSU Symphonic Winds Presents: “Resonance and Resistance” | Union Theatre

Join the LSU Symphonic Winds led by Dr. Simon Holoweiko as they take the audience on a journey of determination and precision. Showcasing their hard work throughout the fall, these musicians will give their all in the last performance of the semester. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m., with tickets to the concert available for purchase here.

Welcome to the Renaissance! A Concert in the Cosmos | Louisiana Art & Science Museum

The Baton Rouge Orchestra Symphony will take the stage at the Irene W. Pennington Planetarium for a unique performance held in conjunction with the Louisiana Renaissance Festival. Featuring music that will transport the audience through time with a backdrop of celestial visuals, this performance is truly one of a kind. The show will take place Nov. 19 and 20, beginning at 7:30 p.m. both days. Tickets can be purchased in advance online.

The Power of Labeling: A Talk by José P. Ramirez, Jr., author of “Squint: My Journey with Leprosy” | Hill Memorial Library

Social worker and two-time LSU alumnus José P. Ramirez Jr. is visiting LSU for a talk on his memoir “Squint: My Journey with Leprosy,” alongside his wife and social worker Magdalena Ramirez and authors Anne Harmon Brett and Claire Manes. These four individuals will talk from 5:30 to 8 p.m. about their work as advocates for a better understanding of Hansen’s disease, commonly known as Leprosy, and ways to end the stigma surrounding it.

Shop the Village – Holiday Open House at Bocage Village | Calvin’s Bocage Market

With Christmas around the corner and holiday shopping to get done, the Bocage Village is the perfect place to find gifts for loved ones. The village is hosting their Christmas event from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with Mr. and Mrs. Clause alongside old fashioned carolers making an appearance at 4 p.m. and staying for the remainder of the event. Local businesses will have pop-up shops, along with regular store operations throughout the day.

LSU Wind Ensemble Presents: “Hidden Reflections” | Union Theatre

In their final performance of the semester, the LSU Wind Ensemble will serenade the audience with contemporary and classic pieces in their concert titled “Hidden Reflections.” The performance will feature guest soloist Charles Goodman and guest composer Erik Santos, making for a performance like no other. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m., with general admission and student tickets available for purchase here.

White Light Night | Government Street

Visit Mid City’s largest art market between 6 and 10 p.m. for a market filled to the brim with hand-crafted items. This celebration of makers and artists under twinkling lights is the perfect way to spend a November evening alongside friends and family. Enjoy live music and stop by one of the many restaurants in Mid City for dinner to close out the night.

Saturday, November 22

LSU v. Western Kentucky | Tiger Stadium

After securing a win against the Arkansas Razorbacks, the LSU Tigers will make their way back into Death Valley for a matchup against the Oklahoma Sooners in their final home game of the season. Cheer on the Tigers during kickoff at 6:45 p.m., and enjoy music played by the Golden Band from Tigerland throughout the game.

Sunday, November 23

Live Music Brunch! at Red Stick Social | Red Stick Social

For a Sunday of relaxation, stop by the Red Stick Social between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., where you can enjoy delicious food and drinks with their $25 all you can eat Brunch, featuring a fully stocked coffee bar and made to order omelets. Enjoy live music and entertainment through your meal, and stop by their bowling alley for some family fun. This event reoccurs every Sunday, so if you can’t make it this week, there is plenty of opportunity to stop by another time.
