National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation star Beverly D’Angelo is 74 and stunning.
The beloved actress, who originated the role of Ellen Griswold alongside Chevy Chase‘s Clark W. Griswold in the first Vacation film in 1983, played the iconic role of Ellen in several follow-ups, including 1989’s beloved holiday version, Christmas Vacation. But in 2025, the legendary actress looks better than ever, and got to celebrate her 74th birthday on Saturday in style.
In a reposted photo shared to her Instagram Stories, the blonde beauty is shown getting glammed up by a makeup artist. In the text written on the photo, D’Angelo shares her candid gratitude for her birthday.
“Thank you to everyone who makes me feel the love today with such kind birthday wishes. GRATEFUL GRATEFUL GRATEFUL,” she wrote.

D’Angelo Brought Ellen Griswold Back This Holiday Season
If you happen to see D’Angelo back on TV screens this holiday season, it’s not just because you’re rewatching Vacation. She’s featured in a partnership with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Parade previously shared.
“The holidays are full of joy, cheer, and, let’s be honest, a little chaos. Everyone’s merry, everyone’s messy, and somehow, someone always ends up sleeping on the couch. That’s where Wyndham Rewards comes in,” D’Angelo said in a statement. “With more than 20 brands and thousands of hotels, it’s the simple way to stay close to family—without being too close. A real bed, extra perks, and a little breathing room? Now that’s how you brighten the season without tripping a breaker.”
In her new commercial, D’Angelo pulls from plenty of Christmas Vacation moments to announce that all 120 million Wyndham Rewards members will get a one-level status upgrade through December 31.
