New Music Friday: June 5, 2026 – The Indy Review

“Flowers is 20 years into a journey,” guitarist and clean vocalist Jeremy DePoyster explains of the newest The Devil Wears Prada venture, “The highs, the lows, a reckoning with what it means be a human catapulting through the chaos that life throws at us continually. This is us at our peak, in songwriting, in raw and authentic lyricism and introspection, and a desperate attempt to connect with anyone else who feels the same way that we do.” The band just released their newest album, Flowers, this past Friday (14th November), alongside a music video for focus track, “Cure Me.”

When speaking about the album’s singles, its apparent that The Devil Wears Prada are tapping into that raw and vulnerable storytelling that they’re known for, with their ninth record boasting their collection of skills over the years, but refined. With the single “Everybody Knows” tackling the brutal experience of “feeling out of place – when your anxiety takes over and you can’t hide it anymore,” the band says elaborated, “It’s that moment when you realise everyone can see you’re not holding it together, but you don’t know how to escape it;” and single “Where The Flowers Never Grow,” which DePoyster describes, “is a song about the realisation that no matter how good things get from the outside, there is a still a place of darkness in our minds… the place where flowers never grow.”

“The hours spent away from the stage and the bright lights can be a lonely place. The lyrics are a reckoning with how you can receive everything you thought you wanted, but you still have to reckon with the intrusive thoughts of emptiness and old wounds that you’re trying to find a way to heal. My hope is that anyone who hears the song feels seen, that they’re not alone in the darkest corners of their mind, and that we’re all trying to find a way forward.” One of the many other singles released ahead of Flowers, “Eyes” was described by DePosyster similarly, that it’s a song “about desperately yearning for answers, wondering why you keep ending up in the same place without a clear path forward. When you’re caught in a wave of anxiety and the things you’ve been taught are of little help, you’re desperate for clarity and hope.”

Looking for a record that will keep you company during the dark and dreary months? Seems like The Devil Wears Prada has got you covered.
