EXCLUSIVE: Squid Game Star Anupam Tripathi is leading Korean omnibus film App The Horror, which is currently in post-production.
The film was recently on sale at the American Film Market with Hong Kong-based outfit Autumn Sun handling in Asia and Russia and Anthology21 handling rest of the world.

Hyung Seul-woo, writer-director of Someone You Loved (2023), is producing the Korean-language film, which is directed by eight emerging Korean filmmakers. The feature is presented by Korea’s newly launched company Anthology21, founded by industry veterans Jin Lee and Jennie Moon.
Each segment of the film is “linked by a mysterious app that turns digital fear into real-world horror”. The film is scheduled for a wide theatrical release in South Korea in February 2026. Also starring is Lim Ye-eun (You and Everything Else).
“It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a bold and original Asian omnibus horror,” said Elliot Tong, Head of Sales and Acquisitions for Autumn Sun, which presented early footage to Asian buyers at AFM.
“Horror remains a consistently strong genre in Asia, even as the 2025 theatrical market faces pressure from streaming platforms and the rise of vertical short-form content. What makes this project especially invigorating is that it’s set against something so ubiquitous and so woven into daily life as the apps we all use.”
“We’re excited to introduce a Korean horror film built on such a clear and distinctive concept, especially one that speaks directly to the MZ generation,” added Jin Lee of Anthology21. “The film turns today’s digital habits into raw, immediate fear, and that tension intensifies even further on the big screen. It’s a fresh, contemporary horror experience meant to be truly felt in theaters.”
On the sales front at AFM, Autumn Sun concluded deals for Chinese animation Bear Kids to Super Hero for Russia/CIS (Kinologistica), Taiwan (Moviecloud), and Colombia (Trompetero Producciones / Dragon Fruit) for producer Beijing Dream Planting Film Company. The same producer also brought the new sequel to their dinosaur animated feature, I Am T-Rex 2 to the China Film Pavilion at the market. The original film was acquired by Well Go USA for North America, and the sequel was also picked up by Well Go USA during Cannes this year.
Autumn Sun continued sales on Happy Little Submarine: Adventure Island, the 11th installment of the popular Chinese franchise, with recent sales to Turkey (Alfa Fortuna) and Russia/CIS (Kinologistica). “China produces animated features across a wide range of budgets,” added Elliot Tong. “While groundbreaking top titles such as Nezha 2 continue to enjoy a global market, we’re encouraged to see that smaller-scale titles featuring non-culturally-specific characters are also finding strong opportunities outside Asia.”
