Sylvester Stallone is calling Samuel L. Jackson the “aggressor” when it comes to Tulsa King. The actor addressed the surprising description while discussing Jackson’s Season 3 debut and the intensity he brought to the Paramount+ crime drama.

Sylvester Stallone clarified that he wasn’t responsible for bringing Samuel L. Jackson into Tulsa King.. “He was the aggressor. He wanted to do it so badly,” Stallone told Us Weekly. “He went to the producer. The producer came to me.”
According to Stallone, Jackson arrived on set with the same confidence he’s known for. “He knows he’s got it. He knows he’s the man. He’s has a certain swagger,” he said. The actor described their scenes together as a faceoff. “I feel like, here it comes, high noon. It’s gonna be a gunfight between us two. He brings out the best.”
Stallone added that sharing the screen with a performer like Jackson is both intimidating and motivating. “Actors love to be challenged. At first, there may be a little intimidation, but once you get cooking. After the first punch is thrown, now you’re in it,” he said.
Jackson made his debut as Russell Lee Washington Jr. in the penultimate episode of Season 3, titled “Dead Weight,” which was released on November 16. The episode introduced Russell as a feared hitman recruited by Quiet Ray (James Russo) to travel to Tulsa and kill Dwight Manfredi, Stallone’s character.
Jackson’s casting also sets up his spinoff Nola King, announced in June. The series will follow Russell as he returns to New Orleans after 42 years. The official logline notes that he seeks to reconnect with family, reclaim the city he once called home, and face new threats from both criminals and law enforcement.
Earlier, Samuel L. Jackson told Collider that he is “really happy” to join Taylor Sheridan’s expanding TV universe. “At least 15 of those shows are on my watchlist all the time,” he said, adding that he enjoyed Tulsa King even before talks began.
