Despite the industry-leading names such as Glen Powell being attached to Paramount’s latest release, The Running Man, it seems like the box office numbers of the film tell of its ill fate. The film debuted with a total of $17 million on its opening weekend, while global numbers add up to a total of $28.2 million (via The Numbers).
Based on the book of the same name written by legendary author Stephen King, the film was also a re-adaptation of the 1987 film featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger. And looking at everything before the film’s release, it seems like bad timing and the audience’s waning interest in remakes is the reason for the film’s downfall.
