The November 17, 2025, episode of Monday Night Raw saw more progression of the Last Time is Now Tournament. A returning Dolph Ziggler lost to Solo Sikoa. But Gunther, who was also making his return, triumphed over Je’Von Evans. It was a close match, with Gunther narrowly squeaking out the victory.
Evans should be proud of himself, as he continues to make the case for being the future of WWE. However, a lot of people were buzzing about something that actually happened before the match took place. Something very familiar to Gunther returned, leading to increased excitement and lots of nostalgia from everyone in Madison Square Garden.
Gunther Gets Signature Theme Music Back
There have been a lot of changes in WWE over the last couple of months. Surprise champions have been crowned, much to fans’ pleasure. Wrestlers have departed and joined WWE, showing how quickly things can change in an instant. Another huge change that has happened in WWE is the bringing back of old theme music.
Def Rebel has been the primary music composer for WWE since 2020. However, their product hasn’t been received well at all. Many fans are displeased with the downgrading of many wrestlers’ themes. The wrestlers themselves haven’t been happy about what Def Rebel did to their themes.
With their contract up soon, WWE has taken full advantage of that. Many wrestlers have gone through presentation changes over the last few months. Old themes that defined them have come back, replacing the work that Def Rebel did. Gunther had been out since SummerSlam, recovering from surgery on his nose.
Returning for a big tournament in an iconic arena against a future star is major. But WWE managed to make his return even better. Stepping out to his match, the familiar strings blared, echoing his arrival. But the music didn’t transition into his Def Rebel theme. Instead, Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 in E Minor ushered him to the ring. The song was synonymous with him for many reasons.
He walked out to that song during his incredible NXT UK run and his short but effective time in NXT. It also conveys a sense of seriousness that displays who he is as a wrestler.
Someone who thinks wrestling is a serious art form. The argument that a presentation change for him is pointless makes sense. But bringing back Symphony No. 9 in E Minor adds more seriousness to his character, making him even more intimidating than ever before. It’s a decision that could pay off if he runs the ladder and faces John Cena at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
