Meghan Markle has insisted “there’s no such thing as perfect” as she opened up about the mistakes she’s made in life.
The Duchess of Sussex said she’s trying to give herself “grace” to make mistakes as she believes there’s a lot to learn from them.
Meghan, 44, has faced a lot of controversy over the years. She was heavily criticized for sharing royal family secrets on her bombshell Netflix docuseries – which she made with her husband Prince Harry – and has faced backlash to her new Hollywood lifestyle after begging for privacy.
In a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Meghan was asked what she’s learned from her mistakes and replied, “You learn not to do it again.”
The former Suits actress explained, “If it all goes swimmingly, you don’t learn from it. If you don’t learn anything, you’re not going to grow.”
Meghan then opened up about how her two kids – Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet – have helped her to learn a lot about her mistakes as she explained they’re at the age where they’re “constantly learning something new.”
“I watch them face things that feel completely insurmountable every day,” Meghan shared. “But you can remember and say, ‘I know it seems really hard right now, but trust me, that’s going to come so easily soon.’ I can give myself the same grace as a founder.”
The Duchess of Sussex then insisted there is “no such thing as perfect” and said she should also be allowed to “make mistakes.”
Meghan joked there’s no fun in trying to be perfect all the time, adding, “So why try to do that if you want to have fun?”
Elsewhere in the interview, Meghan spoke about how she manages her private family time with time spent in the public eye. She said she loves being able to do both and admitted she tries her best to remain authentic.
The former actress also said her “boundaries became stronger,” when she found herself in the public eye, explaining she found “different ways to protect” herself.
Meghan gushed over her husband as she spoke to the publication, saying the Duke of Sussex shields her from any negative publicity and always “has [her] back.”
The Duchess of Sussex said Harry “loves me so boldly” and admitted there is no one else in the world who “loves me more than him.”
Meghan and Harry started dating in 2016 before getting married two years later. They left the royal family in 2020 and moved to Montecito, California, where they now live with their two children.
