Ukraine’s music industry has faced obvious challenges over the past few years, but a new organisation is looking to provide support for independent firms there.
Spilna has 10 founding members, and has itself become the latest member of European indies body Impala.
Alongside Bulgarian body Anmip, Spilna will also be part of a new Impala scheme – co-funded by the European Union – to help fledgling associations build their capacity.
“This partnership opens new opportunities for us to provide key services in Ukraine, collaborate in Europe and internationally, exchange knowledge and best practices, and participate in initiatives that will strengthen and develop our music market and also give Impala’s projects the visibility they deserve with our members,” said Iryna Gorova, CEO of label Pomitni, which is a founder member of Spilna.
“With the support of the EU, emerging associations can provide services and tools to build sustainable structures from day one,” added Stomp CEO and Impala executive board member Kees Van Weijen, of the new scheme.
