Canadian actor Spencer Lofranco, who appeared in the films “Gotti” and “Unbroken,” died Tuesday at age 33.
His brother, Santino, shared news of his brother’s death in an Instagram post on Thursday. His cause of death was not released. TMZ reported that the death is under investigation in British Columbia.
“You lived a life only some could dream of. You changed people lives, and now you are with God,” Santino wrote in his social media tribute via Entertainment Weekly. “I will always love you and miss you Bear.”
Lofranco’s last film role was in 2018’s “Gotti,” where he played John Gotti Jr. opposite John Travolta, who portrayed the notorious mob boss. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
Born in Toronto in 1992, Lofranco broke into film with a role in the 2013 romantic comedy “At Middleton” alongside Andy García and Vera Farmiga. He earned his first leading role the following year in “Jamesy Boy,” a crime drama featuring Mary-Louise Parker and Ving Rhames.
In 2014, he also played Harry Brooks in Angelina Jolie’s World War II drama “Unbroken.” The film, which had a screenplay written by the Coen brothers, Richard LaGravenese and William Nicholson, received three Oscar nominations.
His other credits included “Dixieland” and “King Cobra.”
According to his Facebook page, Lofranco moved to Surrey, British Columbia, in 2021.
