Robert Redford’s daughter has blasted fabricated AI-generated posts falsely claiming that a funeral has taken place for the deceased actor.
Amy Redford, 55, turned to social media on Wednesday, November 19, to set the record straight that the family has not yet organized a public funeral for her father. In a blistering Instagram post, Amy debunked the false claims while also revealing memorial arrangements for the legendary Hollywood icon, who passed away in September at the age of 89.
She penned, “There have been multiple AI versions of funerals, tributes, and quotes from members of my family that are fabrications. Renderings of my Dad, who clearly has no say, and depictions of my family that do not represent anyone in a positive light are extra challenging during a difficult time. We are grieving together, and we are all in support of one another.”
She also emphasized that there “are many elements of it that were created with good intent,” but continued, “I simply ask, what if this were you? Let that be your guidepost.”
She also made clear that so far there has been no “public funeral” and that the family “are working out plans for a memorial in the future.”, reports the Mirror US.
She expressed, “I want to thank you for the overwhelming love and support that has come by way of emails, texts, DM’s, snail mail and sometimes drops on my doorstep since my dad’s passing. It’s clear that he meant so much to so many, and I know that my family is humbled by the outpouring of stories and tributes from all corners of the globe.
“I also want to share, as many of you know, I am still on the Social Media learning curve. It isn’t my instinct to post often, but when I do check in, I love seeing many of your stories, activities, and updates.”
After expressing her concerns about AI videos and discussing future memorial plans, she added, “Every family should have the ability to mourn, represent the person they lost, and pay homage in the way that fits their values and family culture best.
“AI isn’t going anywhere. My hope is to keep AI in the land of transparent usage where it belongs. Let human authenticity live, inspir,e and be the connective tissue we all crave.”
